Lakeview Hospital announces the installation of a full-field digital mammography system that provides physicians with clear, accurate all-digital images.  Much like a digital camera, the images are instantaneous and can be lightened or darkened when viewed.

Lakeview is one of only a few hospitals in the metro area to offer this new technology.  “At Lakeview, we are committed to providing advanced patient care with compassion, “says Curt Geissler, Chief Operations Officer, “and now, our patients will have a new and powerful tool in the detection of breast cancer.” 

The system is also equipped with computer aided detection (CAD) software, which aids radiologists in the interpretation of mammograms.  Although compression is still used, digital mammography is proving to be faster than conventional film mammography, which means patients are in and out more quickly.
