Palliative Care at Lakeview Hospital

Palliative care addresses the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of patients and families with serious chronic and/or malignant illness. The focus is on improving the quality of life for our patients. Palliative care is not intended as an ongoing service. It is a comprehensive consultation with patients and families working together to identify the specific needs of the patient and finding the resources available to address those needs adequately. There are no fees for the consultation.

Lakeview Hospital's Palliative Care Consult Team is available to assess the symptom management and comfort needs of patients. A consult can include the patient, members of the patient's family, the patient's physician and one or more members of the Palliative Care Team. Services include pain and symptom management, and psychosocial support and counseling. We also provide education in homecare and hospice services and offer referrals to community resources.

If you need a consult or have questions about our palliative care program, please contact your physician or Lakeview Hospital's Social Services department at (651) 430-7192 or toll-free (800) 423-7212.
